Ullswater is unspoilt in many ways; including being a haven from the hustle and bustle of high street shops. However, what you will find is a unique selection of independent shops, selling many hand crafted, locally produced goods that you won’t find in any other part of the Lake District.
Nearby Penrith, with its cobbled streets and winding back alleys is also home to many independent shops. It is the ideal place to find unique souvenirs and gifts, away from the more commercial towns of the Lake District.

The Rheged Centre, Penrith, is at the northern gateway to the English Lake District, has a vibrant arts and family events programme and welcomes 450,000 visitors every year.
