Maiden voyage of new Sailing School boat

The newest boat in Ullswater Sailing School’s fleet set sail on its maiden voyage last weekend. (Saturday April 10)

The school, which is part of Ullswater Yacht Club, recently took delivery of a shiny new Laser Stratos to add to its training fleet. With light winds and blue skies, Saturday, April 10, was the perfect day for club members to have a go and take it for a sail on the lake for the first time.

It is a keel version of the popular 16-foot boat and is ideal as a training platform, suitable for delivering a range of sailing courses which make up the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) syllabus. Alternatively for those new to sailing or coming back to it, the Laser Stratos is a great option for an early taste of what sailing has to offer.

Edmund Clarke, Sailing Manager, said: “We have relied heavily on the Stratos as a real workhorse of the training fleet and to be able to invest in a new boat with such proven qualities is fantastic for the Sailing School. Now that restrictions have been eased, we are well and truly open for business.”

Ullswater Sailing School, an RYA Training Centre, runs a range of courses and sailing taster sessions for visitors. For full details of everything on offer as well as online booking go to www.ullswatersailingschool.com

Family-friendly Ullswater Yacht Club, on the North-east shore of the lake between Pooley Bridge and Howtown with scenic waterside frontage, welcomes new members of all ages. Visit www.ullswateryachtclub.org
