Ullswater Sailing School celebrates its 10th birthday
Ullswater Sailing School is pushing the boat out to celebrate its tenth birthday.
The Royal Yachting Association Training Centre, based at Ullswater Yacht Club, was officially launched on June 8, 2013. Since then, hundreds of newcomers have experienced the joy of learning to sail on Cumbria’s most beautiful lake.
From small beginnings ten years ago, the Sailing School now operates every day of the week through the season from April to October and offers a range of sailing courses and taster sessions for all ages and levels of ability. The courses are all run by fully qualified RYA instructors, many of them grew up at the club and learned to sail there. The school has a fleet of more than 16 boat from small single-handers for juniors, to double-handers and large family boats. It also tailors courses to individual needs and welcomes groups from several local schools who have made sailing part of their sports curriculum.
Sail Training Officer James Watts is now responsible for the day-to-day running of the Sailing School. He said: “We are delighted to have hit the ten-year milestone and introduced so many people of all ages to sailing on our wonderful lake.”
To celebrate, the School is offering a 10 per cent discount on all courses and taster sessions for the rest of the season booked online for one week from June 8 to midnight on June 15. Booking is through the website https://www.ullswatersailingschool.com/ The discount code is BIRTHDAY10. For queries contact James Watts STO@ullswateryachtclub.org.uk
