Cumbrian Wedding Venue nominated for national award
Askham Hall is hoping to add to its trophy cabinet, after being shortlisted for a national awards scheme which has generated more than 70,000 entries.
Ahead of its annual ‘Wedding Venue Showcase’ on Sunday 12 March, the former family home of the Earls of Lonsdale has been nominated as the ‘Wedding Venue of the Year’ (North West) in the Bridebook.co.uk Wedding Awards 2017.
Bridebook.co.uk is the UK’s largest bridal venue and supplier directory and more than 180,000 votes were cast across the different categories.
Askham Hall has grown rapidly as a wedding venue in just under four years. In 2013, it hosted just 3 weddings, but it now has more than 90 weddings already booked in for 2017 and 2018.
Charles Lowther, who owns Askham Hall, says, “Although we’ve been operating as a wedding venue for a relatively short time, it has quickly become a core part of our business and we are thrilled that this special part of Cumbria is living up to its reputation as a unique romantic destination for couples to tie the knot. It’s great to be nominated for this award and we look forward to hearing the final result. Fingers crossed!”

Askham Hall’s upcoming Wedding Venue Showcase takes place on Sunday 12 March 2017, from 12 noon to 4pm. As well as looking around the newly refurbished Medieval Hall, main party barn and private dining room or ‘old chapel’, visitors to the Wedding Fair will have the chance to view the house, gardens and wedding pavilion. They can also meet staff and local wedding exhibitors. Entry and parking is free.
The winners of the Bridebook.co.uk Wedding Awards will be revealed next month.
