CHARITY SEVILLES SOLD BY JAMES’ FRUIT & VEG AS THE MARMALADE FESTIVAL APPROACES
A donation of organic Seville oranges are being sold throughout Cumbria by local fruit & veg suppliers James’. The oranges have been donated to Dalemain Mansion & Historic Gardens in celebration of the 12th annual World’s Original Marmalade Awards, and all proceeds from the sale of the oranges will go to Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakes, the main beneficiary of the Awards.
Jane Hasell-McCosh, founder of the Awards, says: ‘We were so delighted to be given the Sevilles, as a fantastic start to marmalade season and a brilliant way of raising more money for Hospice at Home. It is wonderful that James’ have come on board to help us distribute the oranges, as with their network we will be able to make sure that as many people as possible can get their hands on these delicious organic oranges.
‘We have always used James’ Fruit & Veg for the Marmalade Festival – both for providing delicious produce and decorating the state rooms with an array of oranges. It is wonderful to be developing this relationship, and we hope that people will use the Sevilles to enter the 2017 Marmalade Awards and raise even more money for palliative care.’
The Awards deadline is 10th February, and competitors are urged to get their marmalades in to Dalemain as soon as possible. The Marmalade Festival & Awards ceremony will take place on 18th & 19th March.

The quirky World’s Original Marmalade Awards were founded in 2005 to help to preserve, grow and widen one of the most British of customs – marmalade making.
The Awards have humour and a life of their own and have inspired people from all over the world to get involved. In 2016, more than 2,700 jars of marmalade were sent from countries as far away as South Korea, Greece, USA,Australia and the Philippines, while the Artisan Marmalade competition has helped to promote small producers around the world. Judged by a small panel of experts, Dalemain roundels denote marmalade of exemplary quality.
At the heart of the Awards & Festival is Dalemain Mansion, a Georgian stately home lived in by the same family for over 300 years and the holder of a rich archive of early marmalade recipes. Dalemain Mansion will display all the golden and glorious homemade marmalades entered in the competition, plus all the best artisan marmalades from around the world. A selection of the artisan marmalades will be available to taste for FREE and buy.
