Another Place aces summer with Wimbledon-themed week this July

Summer: Game, set and match…

From Monday 8 July to Sunday 14 July, Another Place, The Lake will serve the best of courtside atmosphere, lakeside, with a British summer experience to remember – set in the hotel’s grounds right on the shores of Ullswater in Cumbria.

Matching strawberries and cream with ice-cold Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Champagne. Showing Centre Court action along with open-air, big-screen film classics. Getting into the spirit with traditional garden games. Serving cocktails from a Fever Tree bar, and Glasshouse woodfired pizzas. This July, Another Place is the place to be.

A 4-metre pop-up cinema on the lawn by The Glasshouse will screen Wimbledon’s second week in the build-up to finals weekend. In between court coverage, children’s films featuring the Lake District – from Swallows and Amazons to Peter Rabbit – will keep them entertained. And, as the sun sets behind the fells, tennis-themed films (including Battle of the Sexes and Wimbledon) and sure-fire crowd-pleasers (Top Gun Maverick and Jumanji anyone?) will light up the evenings.

Guests, locals and visitors alike can laze in deck chairs while grazing on English strawberries and cream among summer blooms in the lakeside gardens beautifully designed by landscape architect Laurel Truscott.

Rosie, the vintage Citroen Champagne Laurent-Perrier van, will keep the good times flowing with lake-view glasses of Cuvée Rosé, while a pop-up Fever Tree bar will serve a menu of summer cocktails. Margaritas, Mojitos, Martinis and Wimbledon favourite Pimms will showcase fresh ingredients – mint, strawberries, rhubarb, rosemary, cucumber – from the Another Place vegetable garden.

From boules to croquet, quoits to giant Jenga, traditional outdoor games on the grass will encourage guests to get into the sporting spirit. Woodfired pizza from The Glasshouse will fuel the action and keep appetites in check.

Says Another Place hotels director, David Vaughan: “We’re inviting people to swap the frenzy of Henman Hill for the sweep of Ullswater’s fells this July. For one week, we’re serving all the excitement of Wimbledon with the incredible scenery of the Lake District – a truly winning combination. Instead of queues and crowds, guests can cool off with a dip in the lake after a heated match.

“We’re really looking forward to bringing our first outdoor cinema experience to Another Place and welcoming Rosie – the vintage Citroen Champagne Laurent-Perrier van – and a pop-up Fever Tree bar to the grounds. With traditional garden games in the mix, it’s shaping up to be the perfect, quintessentially English midsummer celebration.”
