There is a fantastic range of events that take place in and around Ullswater each year that celebrate the rich diversity, local history, culture and beauty of the area. Highlights include the world famous Marmalade Festival, the popular Winter Droving, Ullswater Walking Festival or Ullswater’s very own Daff Fest. Learn to Sail at Half Term

Ullswater Yacht Club is Pushing the Boat Out for the school half term holidays with a series of Learn to Sail courses for youngsters aged from eight.
They can learn under the expert guidance of one of Ullswater Sailing School’s RYA qualified instructors. For absolute beginners, the RYA Level 1 course is being held on Monday and Tuesday, May 28 and 29. Then on Thursday and Friday, May 31 and June 1, it’s RYA Level 2.
All equipment, clothing, buoyancy aids and helmets will be provided and the Sailing School has a superb fleet of boats to suit all ages and levels of experience. The club is on the eastern shore of the lake around three miles from Pooley Bridge. It has stunning views of the lake, excellent changing facilities and ample parking.
Course costs are £125 per person for two days, £225 for four days. Course details – Introduction to Sailing RYA Level 1: The first step, these two days provides a good introduction, getting you on the water, understanding boat handling techniques and safely enjoying the thrills of sailing. The Next Step RYA Level 2: These two days take you to a level where you can sail competently and safely on your own in reasonable weather conditions.
