Highlights include the world famous Marmalade Festival, the popular Winter Droving, Ullswater Walking Festival or Ullswater’s very own Daff Fest. Forty Farms Fair with Kendal Farmers Market and Lovingly Artisan

With Kendal Farmers Market & Lovingly Artisan at Rheged.

Back by popular demand, the Farmers Market returns, with stalls full of seasonal local produce, crafts and gift ideas which all link back to our Cumbrian Farms. Shop over 35 stands and meet the local producers who have hand crafted them.There are three free talks in the Lecture theatre during the day, as well as a ticketed panel debate and screening of Six Inches of Soil, plus a chance to win a special hamper, both in aid of our mental health charity, Growing Well.

Talks schedule:

11.00am – Outdoor Fire Cooking for Gatherings with Jim Metcalfe | Join Jim Metcalfe, Head of Food for the Westmorland Family, as he encourages you to elevate your Summer BBQ with new techniques and recipes. With 10 years’ experience of cooking with a wood-fired oven, Jim will share how to choose a quality cut, experiment with marinades, enhance sides and salads, and chargrill seasonal vegetables, as well as some top tips on stress free prep. Free entry

12.00pm Epona- Introducing a New Piece of Land Art in the Lune Gorge | Adrian Lochhead, director of Eden Arts and Tom Lloyd from Fell Pony Adventures, introduce a new project working towards an ambitious piece of land art in the Lune Gorge, inspired by the heritage of the local Fell Ponies and the area itself. A talk, film snippets and discussion around the concept and new display in the retail street area of Rheged, showcasing the work carried out in local schools and the location of the proposed land art. Free entry

1.00pm – Wild Fell: Fighting for Nature on a Lake District Hill Farm | Join Lee Schofield, author and RSPB Site Manager, as he gives his personal account of a decade working to breathe life back into Wild Haweswater – 3,000 hectares of moorland, mountain, meadow and stream in the eastern Lake District National Park. Free entry

2.30pm-5pm – Six Inches of Soil Film Screening plus Panel Debate, in aid of Growing Well, Cumbria Mental Health Charity | Local food production, healthy soil and inspiring farmers come to the fore of this brand new film -Six Inches of Soil. It tells the inspiring story of young British farmers standing up against the industrial food system and transforming the way they produce food – to heal the soil, our health and provide for local communities.

This special screening will include a panel debate after the film organised by the team at Growing Well. £9 per ticket
