Highlights include the world famous Marmalade Festival, the popular Winter Droving, Ullswater Walking Festival or Ullswater’s very own Daff Fest. ‘Bird Whittling’ ~ a two day course with Dave Harter
Complete a beautiful whittled and carved bird over two days with Dave Harter . . . from start to finish.
Whittling is addictive! Descibed as mindful and theraputic by many, it’s absorbing, creative with your hands, and richly rewarding. Even better, it has a small and low tech kit list ~ a lump of wood, a craft knife and your lap. This means whittling can be done almost anywhere in and spare time available- and is also easily transportable.
During this 2 day course you will start from a small block of wood and be taught the traditional hand carving skills of whittling, using craft knives and other specialist hand tools. You can create a ‘smoothie’ which is quicker and might mean you could make a second, or if you prefer make a more decorated style and have a go at pyrography to create feathered effects. You will also learn how to make legs and a realistic stone or wood base. Suitable for all abilities
