Friends of the Ullswater Way evening talk
We are very happy to announce that FOUW’s next ‘Understanding Ullswater Evening Talk’ will be given by wildlife specialist, Mike Thornley. The title of his talk is: ‘Conserving Ospreys in Cumbria’ 7.30 pm Thursday 2nd October, Watermillock Village Hall and ZOOM Mike Thornley has been working in the field of wildlife management for 38years, with a special interest in the conservation challenges for Raptors, Deer, Red Squirrels and many other species. He has spent 23 years with the Forestry Commission and the last 15 years as a self- employed wildlife specialist through his company Thornley Wildlife Services. He has been working for over two decades on the conservation of Ospreys in North West England. His work has focused on advising landowners on the adoption of best practices for conserving ospreys, including the conservation of the most appropriate habitats as well as creating artificial nests. His talk will illustrate some of these practices in Cumbria, as well the best sites for the public to view ospreys.
