Cafes
Not everyone is looking for a slap up meal or pub grub. Perhaps a charming cafe, serving delicious cakes and scones with a warming mug of tea is more up your street? Well, Ullswater is dotted with an array of hidden cafes, tearooms and coffee shops in beautiful locations. Once again you can be sure of some great homemade food, a ‘reet’ Cumbrian warm welcome.

Welcome to Fairlight Guesthouse and Bed and Breakfast, situated at the centre of Glenridding village.
Little can prepare you for the impact of seeing the ruins of Lowther Castle for the first time. The gardens are likewise stunning. The castle is the third building to inhabit the majestic site, while the gardens retain their original 17th century plan.
When Charles Darwin visited Glenridding house in the Summer of 1881 he stated “this place is magnificently beautiful” he was right! Why not treat yourself to a two night break at this stunning lakeshore vista! AA five gold star 2014, 2015, 2016.
The Quiet Bite provides delicious and fresh food all year round. We are open every day (except Xmas day) for our guests and people staying and living in the local area. The ingredients are all fresh (some are actually grown in Watermillock)!) and the produce is cooked and served to order.
